A Hunt of the Heart

AUSTIN, TX—The United States of America is the most charitable country in the world with more than 1.5 million registered nonprofit organizations, which includes public charities, private foundations, and other types of nonprofit’s*. When it comes to deciding what charity to get involved with… for most of us it comes down to how it touches your heart. For Labor Finders franchisee and business executive Lew Curatolo, he has blended his love of the great outdoors and his compassion for young people who are facing some of life’s toughest challenges, hence his involvement with the Outdoor Dream Foundation.

While growing up in Melbourne, Florida, Lew was nine years old when he discovered his love for hunting and has fond memories spending countless hours with his friends hunting birds. Lew’s dad, instilled in him that safety is paramount when using guns along with respect; you must respect the animals and eat what you kill, an ethos Lew lives by to this day.

Over the years Lew has been involved with dozens of charities… he is a firm believer in giving back to those in need but has a huge soft spot in his heart for kids who are going through monumental life challenges. It was around three years ago that one of Lew’s friends mentioned the Outdoor Dream Foundation which, he believed would be a perfect fit for the big-hearted outdoorsman.

To date, Lew has taken several kids on their dream adventure. Unfortunately, a recent trip had to be cancelled due the COVID-19 outbreak. When things settle down, Lew is looking forward to his next trip. “Making this happen is a team effort. With the excellent support system from Outdoor Dream Foundation overseeing the planning, the logistics, the accommodations, to obtaining other top-notch hunters, which when it all comes together is an amazing accomplishment.

At the end of the day, it is all about the kids. No matter what these amazing young people are going through, they always want to do something and for them it is all about being in the great outdoors hunting or fishing. I feel a sense of pride watching them properly harvesting an animal and yes, this is life altering for everyone.”

Lew wanted to emphasize that The Outdoor Dream Foundation, “Is a very fulfilling organization to be involved with. Whether you are a hunter or not…think of this as a Make a Wish for kids who love the outdoors. Watching these young people experience their dreams is a deeply moving experience.”
