Hotel housekeeping can keep you moving all day.
You may make beds, clean bathrooms, push carts, lift supplies, and spend hours on your feet. Using safe work habits can help you avoid getting hurt.
Here are seven hotel housekeeping safety tips to remember.
1. Lift With Care
Housekeeping can involve lifting towels, laundry, trash, and other supplies. When you lift something, keep it close to your body and avoid twisting your back. If something is too heavy, ask for help.
2. Be Careful When Making Beds
Making beds can put extra strain on your back and shoulders. Try to work close to the bed instead of reaching across it. If you need to move a heavy mattress or bed, follow your employer’s instructions and ask for help when needed.
3. Don’t Overload Your Cart
A housekeeping cart can get heavy fast. Only carry what you can safely move. Keep heavier items within easy reach rather than placing them where you have to bend or stretch.
