A marine carpenter constructs, repairs, and maintains the wooden and composite components of marine vessels, from hull structures to interior cabinetry and decks. This skilled trade requires proficiency with woodworking tools and power tools, the ability to read blueprints, knowledge of marine safety regulations, and strong attention to detail to ensure seaworthiness and quality craftsmanship in the demanding marine environment. Key ResponsibilitiesConstruction and Fabrication: Build and assemble various ship and boat parts, including structural frames, decks, cabins, doors, and custom interior elements. Repair and Restoration: Repair and restore damaged wooden components, such as hulls, flooring, and planking, using appropriate materials and techniques. Installation: Install custom components, hardware, and specialized marine materials like teak decking. Assessment and Planning: Inspect wooden components, determine necessary repairs or replacements, and interpret work orders and engineering draw

Carpenter responsibilities may include the following:
- Reading blueprints, drawings, and sketches to fully grasp requirements.
- Taking measurements and calculating the size and amount of material needed.
- Cutting, shaping, and smoothing lumber and other material (e.g. fiberglass) according to measurements.
- Building window frames, walls doors, staircases, and frame buildings from raw materials or pre-constructed items.
- Laying out floorings, roofing, or drywalls ensuring they are leveled and compatible.
- Carving and assembling furniture, cabinets, shelves, and other items and installing them where designated.
- Inspecting places and conducting repairs or maintenance.
- Building scaffolding and other construction structures.
- Erecting, leveling, and installing building framework with the help of rigging hardware and cranes.
