Do you have a steady hand, an eye for detail, and a passion for creating or repairing garments with precision? We’re looking for experienced Seamstresses (also known as Sewing Machine Operators) to support a variety of clients in alterations, manufacturing, upholstery, or custom garment work.
Whether you’re adjusting hems, replacing zippers, sewing uniforms, or handling industrial machines in a production line - your skills help deliver a polished final product that keeps clients coming back.
Your Day
Start times usually fall between 7:00 9:00 AM, depending on the shop. Projects may include clothing alterations, curtain or upholstery work, uniform repair, or small-batch sewing runs. You'll be operating sewing machines (single needle, serger, industrial), using hand tools, and following fabric specs, measurements, or patterns.
Jobs are indoors and may be solo or team-based depending on the setting. You’ll need good communication, steady focus, and a willingness to take direction from supervisors, designers, or floor leads. Your own reliable transportation is required, as clients may be located throughout TALLAHASSEE and surrounding areas.
Your Experience
Minimum 6+ months experience in garment sewing, tailoring, or textile work
Proficient with at least one of the following: straight stitch, overlock/serger, or blind hem machines
Able to cut fabric, read simple patterns, pin, and measure with precision
Comfortable working in a production or alteration shop setting
Reliable transportation required - some roles may be in off-site locations
Bonus Points If You:
Have experience with garment alterations, bridal/tuxedo fitting, or uniforms
Can sew from scratch, follow patterns, or do custom adjustments
Have upholstery, drapery, or industrial fabric handling experience
Are bilingual or experienced in customer-facing tailoring roles
